Abstract

For the nine years 1964-1972 the correlation coefficient between the net moisture flux across the west coast of India south of Bombay and the monsoon rainfall (June to September) was 0.87 for coastal rains and 0.85 for rains east of the Western Ghats region bounded by lines joining Bombay, Nagpur and Trlvandrum, both coefficients being significant at 1 % level. North of Bombay the correlation was -0.14
