Abstract

Length-weight relationship of Harpiosquilla harpax from Parangipettai waters was studied from 281 males and 268 females ranging in size from 100 to 234 mm and from 102 to 230 mm respectively. The equation obtained for the relationship was Loge w=-3.6479 + 2.3758 Loge X (for males), Loge W=-3.4826 + 2.3024 Loge X (for females) and Loge w= - 3.5589 + 2.336 Loge X (pooled). The ‘b’ values found near to 3 indicated isometric growth and matched up with the cube law. The ANCOVA indicated not much variation between the ‘b’ values for males and females.
