The Siliguri Corridor connects the rest of India with northeast India. It is located in a region which is vulnerable to heavy to very heavy rainfall during monsoon months. This narrow land link can be snapped at any time by adverse weather conditions. A plea is made in this note that 10 km wide corridor may be sufficiently widened with the co-operation of the two neighbouring Governments of Bangladesh and Nepal so that the infrastructure of this entire region is not disturbed in coming years.
